Few hours to go before we bid farewell to year 2004. The last few days of the year is a shocker. FPJ died due to stroke (this is probably the first and last time I will be mentioning him in my blog), daughter of Joe de Venecia died because of fire in their house, and just recently (my birthday actually) a 9.0 earthquake hit the western asia causing tsunamis battering Sri Lanka, Thailand and Northern Indonesia. As of latest count, 60,000 people perished. I heard that the count may reach 400,000 according to estimates. And this early morning, stalls selling firecrackers at Bocaue, Bulacan were grazed with fire. Video captures from ABS-CBN’s helicopter showed houses storing the firecrackers exploding (just like your local action movies). What a way to leave 2004 huh?
What to expect with the year 2005? Just this January, 2 of our friends will be wed. Rheena and John with their theme wedding then my cousin Nandy and Cia where I will be his bestman. I hope Pen will be able to come to both weddings. She was just telling me earlier that she’s not fully recovered and there is a chance she might not yet go to work on Monday.

About 9 hrs to go here in the Philippines before Christmas.
People are still rushing to buy their stuffs at the malls, markets and tiangges. Yesterday before going home, I met Pen, her mom & dad at Glorietta to have a quick dinner. You should have seen the swarm of people going inside Glorietta. We left Glorietta at around 7pm. They headed to Landmark to get a ride enroute Pacita. And as expected, traffic at South Luzon Expressway was horrendous according to Pen.
Me on the otherhand stopped by Megamall to buy my comics for the week. When I got there, delivery was delayed and their stock would be arriving at around 9pm according to the saleslady. I can’t wait that long so I’ll be buying my comics on the 28th instead. I detoured to ToyKingdom before finally going home and boy, it was like going to Divisoria inside ToyKingdom. Ang dami ng tao! Yung pila sa counter halos umabot na sa gitna sa loob ng ToyKingdom. Mukhang madami silang pera, pushcarts sa dami ng pinamimili.

As far as I can recall, all the things I bought for Christmas are either for me or for Pen. And you guessed it right - they are all toys. Nothing for anybody else that I should be giving gifts to.
Here in the office, we pitched in to buy something for our helpers/staffs. We as in 5 of us within our team. I reluctantly gave the money but told myself, it’s the only Christmas spirit I will be feeling now. We bought 6 pear shaped ham from Landmark and gave them to the helpers.
So, did I feel the magic of Christmas after giving the hams? It pinched me but nothing big. Still looking for the big blow to hit me.
Buy ‘em while it lasts (and on sale!).
Got 2 more disney figures for Pen.
Both ToyTown and KidzStation at Glorietta are having their sale, I’m waiting for Toy Kingdom in SM to go on sale as they have 3-5 figures which are not in ToyTown and KidzStation.
Played Civ3 last weekend. I was inspired to play as Pen mentioned that she can’t install Civ3 in their home. Am getting a little bit rusty playing PC games. When Pen bought her PS2 2 years ago, I knew I will be playing more console games than PC games.
Civilization is one of the first games I played in the PC. I am no expert but I can put up a good fight. The only thing I hate in Civilization is that when you start playing, you have to finish it - give or take 3 hours of play. I can’t just save the game and continue the next free time. By then I have forgotten my tactics and would be playing recklessly.
It’s more of a mind game..just like playing chess. You need to have a strategy and tactics and not skills/reflexes on the keyboard. I remember playing 5 hours continuously with the early versions of Civilization. My cousin Nandy even has a map of technologies we should pursue.
Later on when we got bored with the basic version, we installed the add-on packs - scenarios. Scenarios are re-creations of the World Wars or other periods in history. Then we even had the alien add-on - you have to conquer the universe not just the world. 
Sigh.
Those were the times.
Now, I barely have time to play games.
I was not supposed to be there.
CDRKing was still closed so I thought to buy some time in ToyTown. And when I got there, a big ‘SALE’ poster was dangling outside the boutique. I went in and found that our Disney Magical Collections are on sale!
Originally priced 250 apiece, the sale price was just 150 pesos. That’s a hundred peso difference. Am sure Pen would love to be there.
Picked up a total of 8 pieces: 3 Caballeros - Donald, Panchito and Jose; B&W Mickey Mouse and Steamboat Pete; Minnie Mouse; 2 Kingdom Hearts Halloween Town Versions - Donald and Goofy.
Wow. Toy overload this Christmas. ü
