Lack of sleep is catching up on me. I’m on a capuccino marathon this morning here in the office. Just got my 3rd cup in a span of 2 hours. That’s a LOT for me. I need to energize my self through out the day and sustain an enthusic look today.
NBA playoffs is up and running. Pity ol’ me that I can’t stay awake at night to watch games at the local channel. I have to do with the net’s update the following morning to see the results instead - heck, sometimes I even see the results beforehand.
Mmmm… capuccino is bittersweet. Frothy pa!. Hopefully my stomach will not grumble today as it is not used to receiveing hot drinks one after another. *another sip* Mmmm… I’m getting the hang of it. Haha.
*another sip*
Uh-oh.
I feel my stomach grumbling just about now. I do not like this feeling.

My 30gb barracuda drive is probably dying. “Probably” because it won’t serve as a master drive anymore. I was able to read it when I made it as a slave drive at home. Not too keen also on having it as a data drive. Pen’s partitioned drive there cannot be accessed as of yesterday. Incorrect Parameter - windows explorer would say.
I was able to salvage *important* files from there. Important is relative mind you. I just wish that I can still back up Pen’s partitioned drive and that all those files through the years wouldn’t go down the drain that easily. Sana yung partitioned system drive na lang ang tuluyang nasira. I was glad that my partitioned drive is intact. Nandun pa yung unfinished thesis ko! I quickly copied my files to another disk and would burn it later when I get home. Downloaded files in another partition were also intact but I cannot move them somewhere else because I have virtually no more space to put them.
.sigh.
Bye-bye 30gb barracuda. You served your purpose. But I won’t relieve you from your work without a fight. I will do my best to get those files from Pen’s partition and burn all other digital files me and Pen painstakingly downloaded.

I saw this in a website offering online tutorial on VisualBasic
Timeless advice: If you want to be a player in the computer programming world…here is my suggested course of action.
- Learn to hand code HTML.
- Learn Visual Basic for Windows (VB 6.0 or VB.NET). You will of course use this tutorial to help accomplish this step, however you’ll need to acquire the Visual Basic software.
- Study how a relational database works. Start with a baby database format such as Access 97 or 2000. Remember - all relational databases use the same idea of tables, fields, and records, even the superpower server databases like SQL Server and Oracle.
- Once you are capable with VB for Windows, try creating an Office application. Any Access database, Excel spreadsheet, Word document, or PowerPoint presentation can be manipulated with Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). This is pretty much the same language as VB for Windows, but with a few minor curve balls.
- You’re now ready for ASP which uses server-side VBScript. Again, this is the same language as VB for Windows, but scaled down to work with HTML pages and executed on the internet. The main reason you want ASP is to access the file system of the server where your uploaded database physically resides. An ASP file is nothing more than an HTML page (text file) with embedded VBScript (more text). This can all be created in Notepad!
- To be a complete internet programmer, you’ll have to know Javascript. The structure of Javascript code is totally different from VB, so be prepared for a more complicated syntax. You need Javascript to execute some of your code on the client-side, which is much faster and takes the burden off the server.
- Now try to be a multi-lingual programmer. With Javascript under your belt, you can easily pick up other languages like Java, C++, PHP, etc.
HTML is not truly a programming language, but rather a way to format an internet document (a web page). There’s no steep learning curve with HTML, no up front cost, and it’s actually a good introduction to objects and their attributes.
I’m done with number 1. I’m doing number 2 & 3 right now and I have a bit of number 7 (C++). You think I can do this before the year ends? .
I think have to buy those Learn <program here> in 21 Days books. Hahaha!

Holiday break flew fast. I didn’t do anything aside from playing NBA Live2k4 on the PS2. I think I’m getting better and better in that game. Haha. With all those practice session I did, I can now decently play the superstar level.
Office is fine. Been bumming around and reading documents pertaining to the work. The thing is that I am reading online materials and not hard copy materials. Eyes are becoming tiring and tiring as hours pass by. Remind me to buy Eye-Mo or Visine sometime.
