Pen & AJ Tour

Head over to Pen’s page and see some pictures when we went on tour at Intramuros last Saturday.

It was a rollercoaster stroll we did that day. Hehe. Both of us ignorant of the place where we would meet - SM Manila. She was coming from her house and me at the other end of the city. We settled to meet at SM as it is somewhat the middlepoint on where we intend to go.

Pen wanted to go to San Agustin Church, Fort Santiago, Luneta, BayWalk, Corregidor and Manila Zoo. We were able to see all these places save for Corregidor and Manila Zoo. I think we will do that some other time. Oh, she also wanted to go to StarCity when we saw the lights came alive when we were at BayWalk infront of Malate Church. :hihi:

Anyway, we spent most of our time walking. From the Puerto Real entrance of Intramuros (almost infront of Manila City Hall) to San Agustin Church to Manila Cathedral to Fort Santiago to Manila Hotel to Luneta Grandstand. It was a ‘good walk’ and not a ‘torture walk’ mind you. We just happily walked away.
:hot:

We were like tourists mouthing ‘WOW’ everytime we see something extraordinaire. I personally like the San Agustin tour than the Fort Santiago tour. If you have read ‘Angels & Demons’ book by Dan Brown you’ll affirm that indeed the church has the most wealth during those times (even now). There were so many artifacts inside the San Agustin Museum: religious icons, paintings (there were lots of ‘em), religious costumes (fit for a king according to Pen), a miniature of San Agustin Church, the choir place of the church proper with huge pipe organ and even broken ceramic bowls and platters.

Fort Santiago was nice but it was a fieldtrip day for I think 3 schools. There were bunch of kids/teens running around and shouting at each other. Sayang yung ambiance nang place. Bad trip. Kaya siguro di ko gano nagustuhan yung lugar. We just made a quick run around the walls and visited Rizal’s cell and memorabilia room. There was this ceiling to wall - 3 feet wide - half inch thick clear glass that has various transcriptions of Rizal’s poems. And with the right lighting, the letters would cast shadows on the wall then you could read the whole poem easily. Ganda ng effect. Sayang bawal mag-picture sa loob. There was an anecdote written on the floor, letters I think are 5 inch in height. You have to move backwards to be able to read the anecdote from start to finish.

Next stop was at Kilometer 0. I have a solo picture of with that post last year and this time I got to take a picture of Pen. Wala lang.

We passed by Luneta Grandstand before heading to Baywalk. By this time we were feeling our sore feet and exhaustion. So we hailed a taxi and off we went to Malate Church. It was sort of a landmark for us and thought we can start our walk from the church. We did walked from the church to the bay but just sat there and rested. :picture: Pen happily clicked her camera to capture the sun setting down. I guess we were at a good spot that many photographers are standing behind us clicking their cameras.

After the sun expired, we ate dinner at a stall there (Lechon Express was it?). I remember we had lechon liempo and sizzling tuna.

Yummy.

For sure this little tour of ours will not be the last. The moment we rode the bus home, Pen is already planning where to go next.

:drink:

PostIt and me

Gotta admit I’m a Post-It guy (I’m shaking my head in disbelief while typing this blog).

It really didn’t occur to me that I’m fond of this cute little yellow stickies until last December when my teammates pulled a prank on me during my bday.

I remember arriving at the office earlier that usual so I can start the day with a little less pressure to start working immediately. My routine when I arrive at the office is turn on the monitor (I never shutdown the PC during weekdays), ctrl+alt+del to type my pwd (my workstation is just locked from the previous day), hit win+r to telnet and time_in, lastly get 1 mug of hot chocolate.

During that day, I saw my monitor filled with Post-it notes. Cute little square yellow and white papers literally covered my whole PC screen. My initial reaction was, “WTF?! Who the hell did this?! How am I suppose to login and time in?”. Then I saw the notes written all over saying “Happy Bday etc. etc.”. That erased the grumpy face I had. After careful thinking, I removed them one by one and set them aside so I can read them later on. I was thinking of logging first before anything else. Hehe. I was thinking of waiting for the other guys to arrive so we can have a good laugh and take pictures of it (with me of course) but I just have to use my PC and check my mails - sayang yung oras eh.

Here’s a picture of those Post-it notes. I had them stuck in my little cubbyhole partition at the office.

I still use these Post-it notes. I have in fact 3 stickies in my office PC. I attempted to use a postit software but it’s not the same with the real thing. And yes, it’s already uninstalled.

Well, will this qualify me for a peculiar award or something?
:hihi:

Weddings

2 weddings in a row.

A college friend, Rheena, last Jan 15 and my favorite cousin, Nandy, last Jan 22.

Nandy, my cousin, told me last year that he wants me to be his best man. I was never a best man before. I don’t know what to do and where am I needed. I just showed up there at the church, led the procession, brought the coins up at the altar during the ceremony and basically took away lots of behind-the-scene-moments pictures.

During the reception, I was called to give a speech for the couple. I didn’t write anything down eventhough Nandy texted me earlier to notify me. I just made some mental notes and I really have no idea what I was able to say that entire time. It was a blur. I do hope I can get a copy of their video.

Sad thing is Pen missed the wedding. Sayang talaga. Though it was nobody’s fault. Better to rest at home kaysa mabinat pa at lumala ang sakit.

A bit of trivia: Rheena’s bday was last Jan 14 while Nandy’s bday was last Jan 21. Both before the day of their weddings. :)

KungFu Hustle

Upon the recommendation of my friends, Pen and me made time to watch this movie. And yep, the movie was great. Sayang at nakatulog si Pen - not because the movie bored her but she was very tired yesterday so I just let her sleep inside the theater while I continued watching the movie.

It was like watching DragonBallZ and Matrix Revolutions with the classing KungFu styles. I liked this better than Shaolin Soccer though it must be the crappy vcd copy that I have that I wasn’t able to appreciate Shaolin Soccer. If I do find a DVD copy of this movie, I will gladly send a copy over there at California and Minnesota if you two guys would want a copy.

 Mga magkano ba ang aabutin ng pagsend ng cd dyan sa US?

Some more notes on RSS

Listing of RSS Feeds applications here

Free RSS Readers

I haven’t tried a standalone feed reader yet. As said from previous posts, I have a plug-in in Outlook and the other is alreay a feature in Thunderbird. What’s extra nice in RSS/Atom feeds, you get updated information once it is available. No more time wasted visiting a site when there is no update available.

My next task would be to fix my RSS feed for this site.

Blogspot is now Atom-enabled

Well, I really don’t know if blogspot is atom-enabled all along. It’s just now that I discovered that I can have your blogs, blogspot users, delivered into my mail for every update/post you have. I do not have to regulary open my browser and check if there is a new post.

I posted an RSS article last week which delivers my latest news/comics to my Outlook. Sadly, my version of intraVnews only read RSS feeds and not Atom feeds. There is an updated version of intraVnews that supports Atom but it’s not free anymore. So I guess I’ll be sticking with my v1.0 of intraVnews.

That aside, since Outlook + intraVnews combo cannot handle Atom feeds, I resort to (drumroll please)… Mozilla Thunderbird!. This mail client is also a feed reader - both from RSS sites and Atom sites. Nice huh. Now I have the luxury to sit back and relax and wait for your new posts to arrive.

Here’s a screencap of my Atom feeds:

Admins/owners of webcams may not know it but their webcams are easily accessible over the net with a little google search.
Search this string over google and you will get a lot of hits: inurl:”view/index.shtml”

Nothing extraordinary is seen so far. :p
