I hate it when people are bashing the movie “Batman Begins” after watching it. They have no idea how good the movie was. It’s great. Hardcore comic book geeks are giving the movie a 2-thumbs up. The movie captured the essence of Batman as a person and as a hero (note that ‘as a hero’ not ‘as a superhero”). ‘Minor’ Batman characters are given life - Thomas Wayne, Lucius Fox, Henry Ducard, Alfred Pennyworth, Jim Gordon and even Rachel Dawes.
One important part of the movie played perfectly is the character development of Batman. From a bat-phobia child, to being a part of the criminal world, trained by the League of Shadows, and finally assuming the Batman identity. Gotham City is an eyecandy. Especially the scene where Batman is atop of a columnar post beside a building, the camera panning from his right to left. Great scene.
I guess one flaw of the movie is not making Ra’s Al Ghul a formidable foe. In comics, Ra’s Al Ghul can give Batman a good fight. Being both swordsmen, the big fight could have been better. As it is, still, the movie is well worth it. Watched it twice - one with the boys at Gateway and the other with Pen in G4.
There will be lots of comicbook characters turned movie to watch out for- FantasticFour is sometime this year, GhostRider is up next, and of course I can’t wait for Superman Returns.

pahabol… just surfing around… (i’m not really into Ethan Hawke), read that he and cage just finished a movie titled “Lord Of War” where Cage is an arms dealer and Hawke is an agent after him…
Sounds interesting….

“I am the King” - Nicolas Cage as Police Officer Ric Santoro in Snake Eyes
Yup, after Guarding Tess (sa Channel 7 ko pa napanuod yan hehe) and Leaving Las Vegas (the incredibly boring but substantial, eto sa HBO ko na napanuod) films, I’ve been a big fan of Nicolas Cage. Na-type cast na nga lang sya sa mga action flicks in the mid to late-90’s kaya nakilala sya as an “action star”. Betamax ko pa napanuod yung The Rock nya with Sean Connery hehehehe.
Bago pa lang kami ni Ajay, alam na nyang baliw ako kay Nic Cage. In fact, when the Glorietta 4 theaters first opened, they started to show movie “reissues”, and luckily City of Angels where he appears with Meg Ryan was shown then. I didn’t see it in its regular season, so pinanuod namin ni Ajay. 1997 yata yun.
Paglabas ng Face/Off, wala na, hooked na talaga ako. Biruin mo yun, natiis kong panuorin si Travolta dahil sa kanya.
Hinahanap ko ngayon na ma-acquire: Bringing Out The Dead tsaka Captain Corelli’s Mandolin.
Sorry Ajay, napahaba. Di ko pa balak kasi na mag-post about Nicolas Cage sa blog ko. Iba pa naka-schedule di ba

i did watch Leaving Las Vegas in d theater… grabe, dragging. i also watched it bcoz he won a best actor award then on that movie (ewan ko lang, kung tama nga info ko, yun yung naalala ko). In fairness, galing naman nung acting nya dun, being an alcoholic.
Then after nun, palagi na nood ng movies nya. I’m also collecting some of his movies.
Dami nya ngayong upcoming movies… sana sulit!!!
