Blogspot is now Atom-enabled

Well, I really don’t know if blogspot is atom-enabled all along. It’s just now that I discovered that I can have your blogs, blogspot users, delivered into my mail for every update/post you have. I do not have to regulary open my browser and check if there is a new post.

I posted an RSS article last week which delivers my latest news/comics to my Outlook. Sadly, my version of intraVnews only read RSS feeds and not Atom feeds. There is an updated version of intraVnews that supports Atom but it’s not free anymore. So I guess I’ll be sticking with my v1.0 of intraVnews.

That aside, since Outlook + intraVnews combo cannot handle Atom feeds, I resort to (drumroll please)… Mozilla Thunderbird!. This mail client is also a feed reader - both from RSS sites and Atom sites. Nice huh. Now I have the luxury to sit back and relax and wait for your new posts to arrive.

Here’s a screencap of my Atom feeds:

Admins/owners of webcams may not know it but their webcams are easily accessible over the net with a little google search.
Search this string over google and you will get a lot of hits: inurl:”view/index.shtml”

Nothing extraordinary is seen so far. :p

Beer-guzzling bears and other strange tales

(CNN) — While many may deem the presidential election and the conflict in Iraq the most important stories of 2004, that does not necessarily make them the most popular.
Weird, macabre, heartwarming, amusing and otherwise offbeat news items captivated CNN.com readers year-round.
The Web site tracks the number of articles that readers e-mail to friends, family and whomever else using the “E-MAIL THIS” story tool. Here are CNN.com’s most e-mailed stories of 2004:

Gift giving

As far as I can recall, all the things I bought for Christmas are either for me or for Pen. And you guessed it right - they are all toys. Nothing for anybody else that I should be giving gifts to.

Here in the office, we pitched in to buy something for our helpers/staffs. We as in 5 of us within our team. I reluctantly gave the money but told myself, it’s the only Christmas spirit I will be feeling now. We bought 6 pear shaped ham from Landmark and gave them to the helpers.

So, did I feel the magic of Christmas after giving the hams? It pinched me but nothing big. Still looking for the big blow to hit me.

Civ3

Played Civ3 last weekend. I was inspired to play as Pen mentioned that she can’t install Civ3 in their home. Am getting a little bit rusty playing PC games. When Pen bought her PS2 2 years ago, I knew I will be playing more console games than PC games.

Civilization is one of the first games I played in the PC. I am no expert but I can put up a good fight. The only thing I hate in Civilization is that when you start playing, you have to finish it - give or take 3 hours of play. I can’t just save the game and continue the next free time. By then I have forgotten my tactics and would be playing recklessly.

It’s more of a mind game..just like playing chess. You need to have a strategy and tactics and not skills/reflexes on the keyboard. I remember playing 5 hours continuously with the early versions of Civilization. My cousin Nandy even has a map of technologies we should pursue.

Later on when we got bored with the basic version, we installed the add-on packs - scenarios. Scenarios are re-creations of the World Wars or other periods in history. Then we even had the alien add-on - you have to conquer the universe not just the world. :D

Sigh.

Those were the times.

Now, I barely have time to play games.

post at home

This is the first time that I will be posting in my inflection here at home.

I just replaced my cranky motorola internal modem with a DLink internal modem. Haven’t noticed any big change so far. I got a nasty 16.8kbps in this free account courtesy of my sister. ü So far, I am just tweaking my Firefox settings here at home. I downloaded the Noia Theme and the TabBrowser Extension.

After buying the modem at PCCorner branch in Glorietta, I chanced upon the Series 8 of Marvel Legends. I saw the whole line except for the chase figure being sold at an exorbitant price already. Those greedy specialty stores bastards are already selling the toys the day after it came here in the country. What do you expect next? When I looked for the toys at the regular toy stores, only the so-so figures are left. Good thing I found Storm and Iceman still available. I grabbed the Storm and the Iceman figure and hesitated for the Ultimate IronMan figure. My principle in buying these toys is buy only the characters I like. That way, I will have no regrets in buying something I don’t really like.

So, when I reached home, I got myself 2 toys and 1 modem. No regrets.

And hey, some updates regarding Pen
As of this writing, she is already in Asian Medical Hospital. She will have the operation tomorrow morning at around 6.30am. I already told her that I’ll be coming over the next day (Sunday) together with some friends. By the time you will be reading this Pen, you will be probably at home enjoying your extended holiday break. Take a lot of rest and just take it easy. We are all praying for your speedy recovery.
